After seeing her whip up a storm in our latest ad for Feel Unstoppable, Amelia has become our very own celebrity chef. She’s got the drive, determination and attitude that we love to see in all our NCS grads, and it sounds like this won’t be her last time in the spotlight either.
Tell us about your experience on NCS
I had two main reasons for joining the course. I really wanted to give something back to the community, and with so much negativity in the world at the time, my goal was to put a smile on people’s faces. But I also did it for me. NCS was way out of my comfort zone as I’d never been away for that long or dedicated so much of my time to one activity. The feeling you get for completing the programme is amazing and definitely gave me the confidence to put myself out there and to feel, as the slogan suggests, unstoppable!
I am extremely glad I took the plunge and signed up. Truthfully, I learnt so much about myself, my relationships with others and what I am capable of. The people I came away from the course with are some of my best friends and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to meet them.
Why did you decide to take part in the NCS Unstoppable advert?
I wanted to see what it was like behind the scenes of an advert, and it was a chance to showcase what I love and to see if I could do anything with baking or media in the future. If there’s one message I can preach it’s the more you put yourself out there now, the more you stand out in the future. You’ll gain experience and contacts to take part in incredible opportunities that will give you the life you desire.
What was it like working in front of the camera?
It was crazy to be on a film set, mostly as you’re treated as the ‘stars’. I had my own runner and stylist who followed me around touching up my outfit and makeup. Anything I wanted I got (within reason!). So just for the experience of feeling special, it was worth it! If you ever get the opportunity to be in an advert, I one million percent recommend it.
When was the last time you felt Unstoppable?
I feel unstoppable every day! Whether that’s in college when I’m happy with a piece of art or an essay in English, at home, the gym or in the kitchen baking some sort of creation!
I think the beauty of the phrase is that the possibilities to be unstoppable are endless. Everyone has their own goals or activities that make them feel unstoppable, so as long as you’re fulfilling your passions and exceeding expectations then you’re the walking definition of unstoppable!
Do you have any advice for someone considering NCS?
The best advice I can give to anyone thinking of participating is just do it! It may seem easier and more fun to stay at home over summer but the skills, friends, and opportunities you get from NCS are priceless. The course is part of your life way after the day you graduate too. The advert is a perfect example of what you can do off the back of NCS, which for me has set me up for what I want to do as a career and I am forever grateful. So if you think meeting friends for life, learning the life skills not taught in school and the opportunity to take part in the most amazing experiences appeals to you - stop reading this and go sign up!
