Action Day 2016

Action Day is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to hear about all the amazing work our NCS grads have completed in just one day! Got no plans on 5 March? Then make sure you don’t miss all the Action Day activities – a chance to get creative, make an impact and be part of some big change! If you’re not sure how to get involved on Action Day, just watch this video and speak to your local NCS provider. Need some inspiration? Check out some of the planned Action Day projects our grads are doing around the country!

Getting crafty in Manchester

50 young NCS grads are getting involved in Action Day with their #don’tdiscriminatevegetables project in Manchester. Taking place at the Hulme Community Garden, the grads will help create a sensory garden, make a pizza oven and gain skills in upcycling and woodwork – it’s time to get crafty! They will be joined by guests from Manchester’s Real Junk Food Project and Manchester Youth Market. To finish the day off, they will celebrate with some tasty pizza and mouth-watering marshmallows around the campfire!

Fun in the Leicester sun

10 young grads will be taking part in an NCS ‘fun day’ project. Held in Leicester city centre, this team will raise money by holding cake stalls, Xbox gaming stalls, colourful face painting and ice breaker activities. All the money they raise will be donated to Wishes for Kids – amazing stuff! If that isn’t enough, some of our very own talented graduates might put on a music performance too!

Winter Comfort in Cambridge

17 young people have decided to roll up their sleeves do something for the homeless. They’ll create a fun engaging quiz and hold a raffle where they’ll raise money for the Winter Comfort Charity (a homeless charity in Cambridge) at the Parkside Community College.

Talkin’ ‘bout a renovation

The Football League Trust and 17 young people are going to be renovating a nursery and reception area at a local school in Royston, which will involve painting a shed and outdoor stage as well as building a sensory garden.

Spreading some cheer in Wallington

This amazing social action team of 10-15 will be raising spirits at a care home in Wallington. They’ll take part in activities chosen by the residents, whether that’s writing a letter to a relative, or sitting back and watching their favourite film. What a great way of getting to know the residents!
